Now it may indeed perhaps be that some of you might consider “video games” an unheathenish pastime, but I differ.
You see, growing up for me put “righteousness” right alongside “passive-aggressiveness”. So it did not matter what sort of fun you were having, there was always left this small nagging doubt in my mind about how it was influencing my spiritual state. One would hear one saint say that “all things are permissible” but one never quite knew whether one’s actions were pure or not. And since every single damned believer had different standards (not, of course, because every believer has a different Holy Spirit, mind you) I can remember once worrying quite extensively about playing One Must Fall: 2097 because it was violent. Yes, yes indeed, it was only robot violence, but I still wondered anxiously whether the Lord would approve or not. Alas, the Lord never told me what he (He) wanted – which only added more to the anxiety. But it is the removal of anxiety like that which can make even playing video games more enjoyable after leaving a passive-aggressive faith that always slightly disapproves but never verbalizes itself.
And I have been truly having fun. Fable 2 rocks. Seriously, go buy it. You can do everything in Fable 2. You can kill massive monsters, earn massive money, go on massive quests, and even bang massive prostitutes! In fact, I am currently earning 1300 gold every five minutes. A prostitute is 10 gold. This means I can bang 130 prostitutes every five minutes! So far I am not a father in the game, but rumor has it that you can indeed have children…
And that is what is amazing about video games: they are unrealistic + tantalizing. Come to think of it, that is why most people join religion. It’s unrealistic + tantalizing. OMG, I think I just discovered that religion is like a video game in the real world. Want to live a fulfilling life? Either be a level 70 Elf Mage in WoW or join a religion! Both of them take over your life and make you do irresponsible things. The only difference? WoW only costs a few bucks per month and religion requires 10%!
Next up: Grand Theft Auto or Soldier of Fortune…

Yeah, but if you want to bang prostitutes in real life then you should be careful what religion you join. Christianity doesn’t make life very tantalizing–just unrealistic. But you do have a good point!
Ahh, but you can join Islam and get FREE prostitutes in the next life… wait a minute…

Hilarious!
