Ladies and gentleman,
Many of you have discovered the lifelong frustration we atheists have with Christianity – and in particular, presuppositional apologetics. Presuppositional apologetics asserts that the accurate worldview is the worldview that presuppositionalists assert. In other words, presuppositionalists presuppose that their presuppositional view is the only presupposition that does not lead to contradiction.
As such, it logically follows that all other worldviews are false. So then, to prove that the Christian worldview asserted by presuppositional apologetical assertions is the accurate worldview, the presuppositionalist presupposes that every opponent has a contradiction in their worldview. So then, there is no need for the presuppositionalist to back up their presuppositions, just to show those in rebellion to god that their worldview has a contradiction. At that point, the sinful and deceived nature of the heathen is exposed and Christianity is justified.
As you can imagine, this results in quite a bit of anger among us atheists, who have had our sinful natures exposed and our hostility toward the One True God is revealed. And as everyone knows deep down, this is the one thing we are desperately trying to hide, because we want to sin and so we hide the truth in our unrighteousness.
So, in my ongoing effort to suppress the truth in my unrighteousness, I am revealing Presuppositional Atheism.
My assertion is this: atheism is true, and Christians cannot describe anything in their fancy, schmancy spiritual realm without borrowing from a materialistic worldview.
Let me explain. The presuppositionalist Christian asserts that the atheist cannot justify their worldview without “borrowing” from the Christian worldview, thus demonstrating a loophole in atheism (or materialism). Well, fine then. We can play that game too.
I assert that atheism (“no gods”) is the only presupposition that actually accurately describes all spiritual religions. Therefore, every religion that asserts a spiritual realm must borrow from a materialistic worldview in order to explain the spiritual. Because every explanation of the spiritual requires using materialistic terms (any term involving time/space) then this shows the religion is entirely materialistic in nature, thus demonstrating that it has an internal contradiction and is, therefore, false.
Let me give some examples:
“Morality comes from God.”- The use of the word come implies the existence of time and space, which means that even in this statement, the Christian is borrowing from a materialistic worldview that requires the existence of time and space.
“God created the heavens and the earth” – In this shocker, the word created is used, and as everyone deep down in their material-soul knows, things cannot be created unless time exists. And time does not exist unless the universe exists. Therefore, this statement is also borrowing from a materialistic worldview.
And pshh, everyone knows that no matter what, matter exists anyway and all visual imagery requires appeals to, you guessed it, time and space. Which means that all images, parables, and… well… speech, that a Christian uses to conjure a thought in another person’s mind are just more evidence of the depraved and deceitful nature of Christians who are suppressing the truth of materialistic atheism in their hearts, instead worshipping a false God created in their own minds and in their own arrogant image of the perfect being, who is not much unlike what they wish they were.
Christians are depraved by nature, suppressing the truth in their religion. Exchanging the truth of a materialistic universe for a lie, they worship a God created in their own image. But this not being enough, the universe gave them over to their spiritual lusts for perfection and beauty and power, and they exchanged the natural for the unnatural, worshipping an invisible and supposedly immaterial Being instead of being thankful for the obvious material world that lay before them. Blinding themselves to the truth of a material universe, they will deserve their just reward: living their only life in a fantasy spiritual world. Amen.
I have enjoyed this material-based time typing on my material keyboard and munching on material food and drinking material beer while I used thoughts formed in my material mind to show that all spiritual ideas are material in nature. I feel good!

But wait, you’re using circular reasoning! But that doesn’t matter I guess if your apologetics are called presuppositional. Nice trick!
That is a brilliant approach to mocking an inane system of apologetics. Such a smug system of circular reasoning, I can’t help but be annoyed whenever I read any of it. I showed an article to a friend about it this week. He asked, “Who would ever believe this?” I wasn’t sure what to answer. I guessed it is a way for strong Calvinists to feel good about themselves and to convince “lukewarm Christians,” they are not committed enough. I’m not sure though.
Nice article. I don’t know if I agree that time only exists when the universe exists. Isn’t time relative? It might just be my opinion since I have no sense of time.
I would support making presuppositional thinking a craptital (sic) crime. Yes, that’s right. If you use presuppositional thinking, thus throwing a load of crap in our faces, then, upon proper conviction for your crime, we shove a big load of crap in your face. You can’t wash if off for 24 hours.
