This blog post is inspired primarily by Grace in my previous post. I have made the claim that leaving the faith gave me a better understanding of Scripture, and it seems like a good idea to demonstrate how I think this is the case. So, I think I’m going to try a casual, laymans type [...]

Confession: read title.
No, seriously it just occurred to me that I don’t really like thinking about Christianity and stuff anymore. It seems like such a waste of time. I figured out what I wanted. I solved the problems I needed to. I am free, at least mentally, from the chains.
I feel much like the guy [...]

The greatest being imaginable would have the power to make itself not exist.
The only way to demonstrate this power would be to actually do it.
Non-existent beings cannot make themself exist once they stop existing.
Therefore, this is why God no longer exists.
Checkmate!

Good for the Gander

If this means that tigers used to be gentle vegetarians, then does this mean that squirrels used to be viscious carnivores?
Fundamentalist Ideology: a celebration of the abnormal when it is convenient to them, a celebration of the normal when it is inconvenient to others.

If there was no death before the fall, there is [...]

Answers in Genesis WTF?

Caution: the following contents may kill more brain cells than alcohol…
Read this. After an entire article explaining how Christians should defend themselves against complex arguments:
“What people judge to be a fallacy often depends on their worldview. Consider this question:
“Have you repented of your sins?”
A non-Christian may consider this to be a complex question and would [...]

By far, the most common argument I see made against atheists is that while they have moral standards, they do not have a defense of morality and therefore are “borrowing” from a Theistic (e.g. Christian) worldview every time they make a moral statement. This is presented as evidence that atheists have an internal contradiction in their worldview whereby they are not allowed to make any moral statements because they cannot account for the origin – or source – of morality.

Free-will and Love

P1: Love cannot exist without free will.
P2: A creature with free will is not predictable.
P3: Unpredictable creatures cannot be trusted.
Therefore, if God is love, then God must have free will, which means that He is not predictable and therefore cannot be trusted.
This is why I think free will is a load [...]

I assert that atheism (“no gods”) is the only presupposition that actually accurately describes all spiritual religions. Therefore, every religion that asserts a spiritual realm must borrow from a materialistic worldview in order to explain the spiritual. Because every explanation of the spiritual requires using materialistic terms (any term involving time/space) then this shows the religion is entirely materialistic in nature, thus demonstrating that it has an internal contradiction and is, therefore, false.
